UNG awards more than 800 degrees during fall 2016
The University of North Georgia awarded more than 800 degrees for the fall 2016 semester, including hundreds awarded in commencement exercises held Dec. 16-17 at the university. "We are here to honor you with the richest tradition in the academic community - a commencement ceremony," UNG President Bonita Jacobs said before conferring degrees. "We all know what it took for you to reach this moment. We know that, as graduates of UNG, you will add meaning and value to the lives of those around you. Our hopes and dreams are with you. Participated in the 2016 Carthage Christmas Festival
Yearly, Carthage College invites the community to celebrate the joy of the holiday season at the annual Carthage Christmas Festival, three performances of readings and music in the A. F. Siebert Chapel. These annual concerts are the College's Christmas gift to the community. Tickets to the Christmas Festival have been free since the festival began more than 20 years ago.

The concert featured the Carthage Choir and Carthage Women's Ensemble. Special guests included the Crystal Lake Central High School A Capella Singers, Glenbrook High School Master Singers, and Prairie Ridge High School A Cappella Choir. The event took place at the Chicago Symphony Center.

CCIW Tournament Champion - Soccer
The Carthage College men's soccer team completed a sweep of the 2016 CCIW regular season and tournament titles Saturday with their second straight CCIW Tournament championship, defeating Wheaton College, 2-1, at Art Keller Field. The win also gives Carthage the CCIW's Automatic Bid and guaranteed berth into the 2016 Division III Men's Soccer Championship.

"We have gone undefeated in the league before and won conference championships," said head men's soccer coach Steve Domin, "but this one feels good because of the amount of work and traveling we have done with such a young group. Tournament and regular season Championships take great talent, some luck and a huge sense of want. This group has time and time again come back from the many doubters, deficits, adversity, and each day someone else picks us up."

ICC Welcomes Respiratory Therapy Program Students for Fall 2016
ICC is proud to welcome students in the Respiratory Therapy Program for Fall 2016! Respiratory care is a health care specialty involving the prevention, treatment, management and rehabilitation of people with lung problems. As part of the medical team, respiratory care personnel are instrumental in life support and emergency measures. Practitioners must be experts in providing specialized and selective therapeutic respiratory care in such areas as medical gas administration, humidity and aerosol administration, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and ventilatory support. The respiratory care practitioner must also be capable of performing pulmonary function studies, blood gas analysis and other related physiologic monitoring. CCIW Athlete of the Week - Cross Country
Carthage College men's cross country runner Michael Von Borstel was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Wednesday afternoon. Von Borstel was the driving force behind the Red Men's fourth-place finish at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Lucian Rosa Invite on October 8. The Orland Park, Ill. native crossed the finish line at 26:44.5, good enough for 17th place in the field of 178 runners.

CCIW Player of the Week - Soccer
Carthage College freshman women's soccer goalkeeper Emily Furmanek was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week. The Orland Park, Illinois native has been an iron woman patrolling the net as a freshman for the Lady Reds, starting in all seven games. Furmanek was the driving force behind Carthage's 2-0 record in a week that included 1-0 victories against Aurora University on September 21, and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on September 23.

CCIW Player of the Week - Soccer
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced Tuesday that Carthage College's Kevin Mahoney has been named the first CCIW Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the 2016 season. Mahoney led the Red Men to a 3-0 start to the season with wins over the City College of New York, Endicott College and Gordon College.

Participated in a Summer J-Term study tour to Germany
Students were introduced to early German pioneers of psychology and learned how they shaped the development of modern psychology as an empirical science. While exploring distinct historical periods from a psychological lens, students also had the opportunity to visit historically significant sites in Germany and interact with German scholars and students of psychology.
